High-performance robotic systems are crucial for the competitiveness of industry and also for service robotics in the private sphere. In the Laboratory for Robotics and Internet of Things, we provide students with hands-on learning in the field of robotics-related software development. We offer companies numerous points of contact for joint research work. 

Robotics is a highly interdisciplinary field with the aim of developing and operating high-performance robot systems, which are crucial for the realisation of flexible and networked automation and contribute significantly to the competitiveness of our industry.

The functioning of such a system requires the perfect interaction of hardware and software with knowledge of mechanics, drive technology, sensor technology, control technology and software systems engineering.

Engineers in this interdisciplinary field are involved in the design of kinematics and gripping systems, the planning of control and regulation architectures, the selection of sensor systems for function monitoring and quality assurance and, increasingly, the development of modern algorithms and open source software architectures for mobile, autonomous, networked systems.

Courses:

  • Interdisciplinary practical course in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology II (4th semester Electrical Engineering and Information Technology / 4th semester Industrial Engineering and Management)
  • Practical course in dynamic systems (focus on drive technology and robotics / double degree programme)
  • Practical course in robotics (specialising in drive technology and robotics)
  • Modelling and Simulation of Engineering Systems (elective subject / double degree programme)
  • Individual projects for the Master's degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
  • Control Engineering (4th semester Electrical Engineering and Information Technology)

Student work in related subject areas with interfaces to the Internet of Things, medical technology and many other disciplines is possible after consultation with the laboratory management.
