Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, the number of global conferences held virtually including in higher education has dramatically increased. Prof. Dr. Link, Director of the Institute for Intercultural Communication at Aschaffenburg UAS, who successfully organised such a conference herself with the Virtual International Language Days 2020, examines this type of event from an intercultural perspective.
The organization of international virtual conferences, especially in the higher education sector, presents many opportunities, but also intercultural challenges.
The research focuses specifically on universal versus culture-specific expectations of international conference participants, as well as the influence of culture on the requirements, success factors, and risks of global virtual conferences.
The Institute for Intercultural Communication published the first results in the 2022 issue of Mondial – SIETAR Journal for Intercultural Perspectives.
