Background

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, the number of global conferences held virtually including in higher education has dramatically increased. Methods

The organization of international virtual conferences, especially in the higher education sector, presents many opportunities, but also intercultural challenges.

The research focuses specifically on universal versus culture-specific expectations of international conference participants, as well as the influence of culture on the requirements, success factors, and risks of global virtual conferences.
