In a hands-on business simulation students learn to apply and reflect on their intercultural competence in international teams.

Last week, the TH Aschaffenburg campus became a hub of dynamic learning and global collaboration as students of the European Master’s Degree Programme Mercuri joined forces with the Master of International Management students for a unique, intensive academic experience.

Organized and hosted by Prof. Dr. Alexandra Angress, the international week offered an exciting blend of strategic learning, cultural exchange, and hands-on business simulations. Under the expert guidance of marketing professor Dr. Francisco Suay, University CEU Cardenal Herrera, Valencia (Spain), students successfully tackled the Markstrat Marketing Simulation in international teams - a renowned business strategy game that challenges participants to manage the marketing division of large companies and compete in a complex, evolving market.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The objective of this international week was clear: to foster collaboration in diverse, multicultural teams and provide students with a platform to explore strategy, decision-making, and leadership in an international context.

The international programme kicked off on campus with a session delivered by the HR team of KION Group, headquartered in Frankfurt: together with her colleagues, Nicole Kraus shared invaluable insights into thriving in international work environments and strategies for mastering job applications and interviews. The workshop not only offered practical knowledge but also prepared students for real-world professional challenges in globalized industries.

Beyond academics, students enjoyed cultural enrichment through an expert talk at the European Central Bank, offering insights into the role of the ECB and European Monetary Union as well as an entertaining evening at the English Theatre Frankfurt.

TH Aschaffenburg is a degree awarding partner in the European Master consortium, delivering the transnational programme Mercuri, in which students focus on marketing related aspects and study in four different countries - the University of Katowice, Poland, the University of Bergamo, Italy, TH Aschaffenburg and CEU Cardenal Herrera, Valencia, Spain. Upon successful completion of their 2-years MA studies they gain four different degrees. (https://mastermercuri.eu/program-overview/) Prof. Dr. Alexandra Angress has established this European Master course program at the TH and is the coordinator of the latter.

Aschaffenburg UAS will also be a partner in the next Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme relating to a marketing simulation that will be hosted by its Erasmus partner CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Valencia end of May. Ten students of TH Aschaffenburg will be nominated and co-funded through the Erasmus programme. More information will be provided by the International Office and by Prof. Dr. Alexandra Angress in the faculty of business and law of  Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences.
