Connecting Across Borders – Strengthening ties with Coventry and Nottingham Trent University

group picture

Through a recent visit to Coventry and Nottingham Trent Universities, AUAS faculty and students are fostering stronger international partnerships.

Professor Dr. Alexandra Angress recently represented Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) at Coventry University’s (CU) annual Big Careers Fair. Invited by the Coventry University as representative of an institutional partner, and accompanied by student assistant Maria-Regina Weidenauer, she took part in CU’s annual careers fair. This event at CU offered a platform for university affiliates and employers across diverse industries to connect directly with students and faculty.

The visit to Coventry University and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) also facilitated valuable networking opportunities, strengthening both institutional and personal ties. Meetings aimed at further exploring possibilities of joint projects—such as short-term programmes, joint modules, guest lectures as well as a joint summer school and a double degree.

Currently, four AUAS students that are enrolled in undergraduate real estate management programmes are studying either at CU or NTU.

Mats Möllers, a Bachelor’s student of "Digitales Immobilienmanagement", is particularly enthusiastic about his current study abroad experience:

My semester abroad at Coventry University has been both exciting and enriching. Not only do we deepen our subject knowledge, but we also gain insights into international perspectives and practical, real-world applications. Working in multicultural teams provides me with essential intercultural competencies, which are both personally and professionally rewarding. What I love most about Coventry University is its international environment – I’m constantly meeting new people. The sports facilities are also excellent, offering something for everyone!

In Nottingham, NTU students who previously participated in the tailor-made International Summer School Programme (ISSP) at AUAS (coordinated by Prof. Angress and her assistants with the support of the International Office in Aschaffenburg) had the opportunity to reconnect with AUAS students that are currently studying real estate management at NTU.

The visit to both UK partners forms part of a collaboration project that is currently supported by funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research, and Arts, aimed at strengthening ties with UK institutions. AUAS, CU and NTU remain committed to their longstanding collaboration, which includes student and faculty exchange (now through so called ERASMUS inter-institutional agreements).

Special thanks are extended to both UK university partners for their warm hospitality, while AUAS looks forward to welcoming students and staff/ their representatives in the near future!
