ZeWiS: Centre for Scientific Services and Transfer, creates new oppertunities for companies through technological and economic progress. In application-oriented research and transfer projects, we leverage existing university expertise and excellent infrastructure to foster innovation in industry and business, with a strong focus on the Bavarian Lower Main region.

About ZeWiS

We enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to harness the scientific expertise of the Aschaffenburg UAS and use it to drive innovation and enhance their market position. Across 14 specialised laboratories and institutes with different research focuses, we conduct feasibility analyses and concept developments for high-risk reasearch projects, while also developing tailored solutions for industrial and business applications. 

Since 2011, ZeWiS scientists have strengthend the regional economy through established transfer programmes such as the mainproject and the Open Innovation Lab in areas such as digital transformation and sustainability. Additionally, the VentureLab team supports start-ups, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

As part of the 30th anniversary of Aschaffenburg UAS, we invite intressted companies to our Research and Transferr Day on May 16th 2025, held in collaboration with IHK Aschaffenburg on campus. This event offers insights into current research topics, industry collaborations, and engaging networking oppertunities with our scientific teams.

  • ZeWiS Tranfer Day 2023

    On 16 November 2023, ZeWiS opened its doors for the Transfer Day at the ICO Obernburg. Guests from business and science exchanged views on current challenges facing SMEs, including the energy crisis and skills shortage. Together with partners from industry and business, various ZeWiS working groups presented successful collaborations in the fields of artificial intelligence, laser technology and photonics as well as on the topic of ‘New Work Mindset’. A tour through laboratories ended with the presentation of research vehicles from Aschaffenburg UAS, equipped with technology to improve interior communication and driving safety.

Facilities

Thanks to the cooperation with the Aschaffenburg UAS, we can tackle topics that we would not have been able to do on our own due to the time required.

  • Travelling by train

    Take the regional train from Aschaffenburg in the direction of Miltenberg or from Miltenberg in the direction of Aschaffenburg and get off at the station ‘Glanzstoffwerke’ directly at the ICO.
