Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ute Knippenberger was appointed Professor for Smart City and sustainable real estate project development at the Faculty of Economics and Law at the Technical University of Aschaffenburg on May 1, 2021.

Biography

Ms. Knippenberger studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt. After several years of professional experience in planning offices and in municipalities, she completed the international doctoral program in European Urban Studies and in 2011 presented her dissertation at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. She published her work in the VS Verlag für Sozialwissenschaften under the title "Regional governance of the functional change of airports. An analysis using the example of the “Airport City” Frankfurt am Main”. Her research focus is in the field of social science urban research with a focus on spatial conflicts. Parallel to her doctorate, she worked as a research assistant with Professor Alex Wall at the chair for urban planning at KIT Karlsruhe. Before 10 years as a manager in public urban planning. She is a member of the Hessen Chamber of Architects and the Association for Urban, Regional and State Planning SRL.
